Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a muffin tin with paper liners

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, baking soda, baking powder, and salt

In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, sour cream, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined

Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay

Spoon the batter into the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full

For the crumb topping, mix 1/4 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder

Cut in 2 tablespoons of cold butter until crumbly

Sprinkle this mixture over the muffin batter in each cup

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean

Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
